Workers Compensation
It is a requirement of a majority of State’s that employers provide Workers Compensation insurance for their employees. This provides coverage for accidents or disease that occurs from employment as prescribed by state law. The benefits include lost wages, medical expenses, and permanent disfigurement and disability payments.
A Summary of Workers Compensation:
1. Workers Compensation - The policy will pay on behalf of the employer any benefits that are due to the injured employee under the workers compensation law of the state or states designated in the policy declarations. The amount of benefits are not specified, since the laws can change, so the policy states that it will pay whatever the law presently requires. Usually, this will cover medical expenses, a limited amount of weekly compensation, and some level of death benefits to surviving dependents.
2. Employer's Liability - The employer is protected in case the injuries of the employee cannot be compensated under the workers compensation act, or if the injured employee or others can file a claim for damages against the employer even though workers compensation benefits have also been paid.
3. Employer's Stop Gap Coverage - Insured's who are located in states that do not include employer's liability in their workers compensation policies can instead purchase Employer's Liability Stop Gap Coverage as an endorsement to their general liability policy.
Commercial Auto
The commercial auto policy provides both liability protection and physical damage coverage for loss to vehicles owned, maintained, or used by you. Additional coverage’s can be added to fit your needs such as medical payments and uninsured motorist protection.
These can consist of:
• Specifically the listed autos (scheduled) on the application
• All “owned autos” - This covers both the vehicles scheduled on the policy and also any others that might be acquired during the term of the policy (and temporary substitute autos). This is generally included in the policy at no cost.
• Any auto - This is the most extensive coverage available. It covers autos that are listed, autos later obtained, autos hired, leased or borrowed and autos not owned by the business but being driven by an employee on company business.
This coverage may be included at an additional cost.
